Exported Commodities Codification

21/06/10 17:39

We are   pleased to inform you that the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) has  modified  the registration procedures regarding commodities exported by export firms at the Special Exporters Register kept by the chamber.

The aim of this change is to adjust the exported commodities codification to the international standards further aiming at promoting Hellenic products and Hellenic export firms abroad through the TCCI webpage, as well as through the creation of electronic (CD etc.) and printed publications. For this reason TCCI    proceeded to the installation and use of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System 2007, developed on the basis of the Combined Nomenclature and codification used at custom services during the exportation of commodities to non E.U. members and submission of “intrastat” declaration for intereuropean transactions.

For the achievement of the above mentioned aim, in 2004, TCCI services contacted all active exporting firms registered in the Chamber’s Special Exporters Register, in order to register the products exported by those companies on the basis of the new codification system, following a written application of the companies involved. In order to facilitate the companies that are not familiar with the aforementioned codification, the Chamber has entered in its webpage files including this specific codification, so that the webpage visitors can download the said archive in xls (MS Excel) and pdf (Acrobat Reader) form, whereas –should such a request be made –the Chamber could send the aforementioned files to the applying companies by e-mail. At the same time, you can find printed lists detailing the said codification at the TCCI exports department.

The Chamber, (Exports Department) shall require from now on that all exported commodities to be declared by code, and not by verbal description.

NOTES

The Chamber is already using the second level (i.e up to 4 digits of the aforementioned codification, instead of its full fourth level codification and (eight digits, which was not deemed functional for the Chamber Exports department). Therefore, the files including the relevant codification that can be downloaded from the TCCI webpage have been appropriately processed so as to include only 4-digit, second levels codes.

For all inquiries or information you can contact Ms Anastasia Makri and   Ms Marianna Georgakopoulou, Department of Exports at tel :+3002310370160, +30 2310370161.

At this point you can download the files including the relevant codification either in xls (zipped) or in pdf (zipped) form.
