The TCCI, in collaboration with other organizations from Greece and abroad, such as research institutes, regional authorities, local development enterprises, Chambers of Commerce etc, designs and implements EU co-financed projects aiming at the development of the Thessaloniki area, the enhancement of its member-enterprises' competitiveness and the improvement of its services. The projects in question are financed by EU funds and in most cases national funds as well, in the framework of various European Programmes such as the European Territorial Cooperation Programmes, the Horizon 2020 Programme, Lifelong Learning Programme and the programmes of the National Strategic Reference Framework.

Since 2015, particular emphasis has been put on supporting the SMEs of Thessaloniki and more generally Central Macedonia in their effort to develop innovation, valorising flexible financial tools like Innovation Vouchers and focusing on regional Smart Specialization priorities.
